Dream Analysis - "Epic" Dream?
Curious to hear peoples thoughts on this. Based on what I have read, I had an "Epic" dream last night that is still with me almost a day later. I almost never remember any dreams, and if I do, the details are blurry and they fade quickly.

This one, I will never forget. I know that armageddon was occuring around me. I was on a beach, and the first thing I noticed was an incredible amount of birds. The birds we joining together and flying in groups forming the shape of, as strange as this sounds, BIRDS. Then, they were flying in groups forming the shape of crocodiles.

The buildings around me were collapsing.

I ran in to a close friend, who had tears in his eyes, and I asked , are you laughing or crying? When he replied that he was crying, and I asked why, he replied to the effect of "how can you not cry", although In the dream, I took this to mean they were tears of joy, because of the beauty of what was occuring around me.

The people around were sort of being pulled into the ocean by some kind of force.

My brother was on the beach as well, although he was still a little kid, even though I was the same age today (mid 30s).

finally, my brother was pulled into the ocean as well.

The whole time this entire even is occuring, I was more at peace than I ever recal being (in the dream that is). Finally, I felt the "force" start to pull me in as well. I remember being face down in the sand, still conscious and breathing, but unble to move.

I woke up at this point, and recall the first thing coming to my mind is that I am not afraid to die.

during this entire dream, I was hearing the most beautiful piano arrangement I have ever heard, but not someting I would recognize as having heard before.

Lots of details here I know, but really curious to hear what anyone might think.

Thanks

Well i guess it just means that you are not afraid to die. Good for you. I’m TERRIFIED!!

Epic dreams are the best dreams. I have only had one epic dream about a few years ago, and I will never forget it. There was so much beauty. I wish I could dream it over and over again. Here is some stuff I found on dream moods.com.

To dream that a building collapses, indicates that you are losing sight of your ambitions and goals. Your pursuit for material gains is failing.

To dream of chirping and/or flying birds, represents joy, harmony, ecstasy, balance, and love. It denotes a sunny outlook in life. You are experiencing spiritual freedom and psychological liberation. It is almost as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

To dream that you are on the beach and looking out toward the ocean, indicates unknown and major changes that are occurring in your life. Consider the state of the ocean, whether it is calm, pleasant, forbidding, etc.

To see someone else crying in your dream, may be a projection of your own feelings onto someone else. If you do not cry in your waking life, then seeing someone else cry may be a little easier to deal with then seeing yourself cry.

However, symbolically, dreaming that you are paralyzed may mean you are feeling helpless or pinned down in some aspects or circumstances of your waking life. You may feel unable to deal with a situation or that you can’t do or change anything. Alternatively, the dream suggests that you are feeling emotionally paralyzed. You are having difficulties expressing your feelings.

To dream that you hear the sound of a piano, suggests harmony in your life. You are pleased with the way you life is going.

To dream of peace and tranquility, indicates an end or a resolution to an emotional issue or inner conflict. It may signal and end of a cycle and the pause before the beginning of a new endeavor. It also suggest that you have reached a new level of stability and calmness. Alternatively, the maddening quietness may refer to the calm before the storm.

To dream about the death of a loved one, suggests that you are lacking a certain aspect or quality that the loved one embodies. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what do you like about him. It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances. Alternatively, it indicates that whatever that person represents has no part in your own life.?

To dream of your own death, indicates a transitional phase in your life. You are becoming more enlightened or spiritual. Alternatively, you are trying desperately to escape the demands of your daily life.

Epic dreams (also referred to as Great Dreams, Cosmic Dreams or Numinous Dreams) are so huge, so compelling, and so vivid that you cannot ignore them. The details of such dreams remain with you for years, as if you just dreamt it last night. These dreams possess much beauty and contain many archetypal symbology. When you wake up from such a dream, you feel that you have discovered something profound or amazing about yourself or about the world. It feels like a life-changing experience.

Cake baking business? where do i start?
Ok i’m thirteen and most people think its early to be thinking about a cake business but my teacher said she wants us to start thinking about careers… so me and my 15 year old sister watch the show cake boss we are italian just like them and have family in New Jersey! we think it would be cool if one day we could open up a bakery like that here in California…SO

Here’s my plan:
bake lots of cakes as child
go to culinary school
graduate college
get a job at a bakery
quit job and get married have a family
if my cakes were any good, open up a bakery

but a few questions first,
when do i go to culinary school? in college? in high school? when!?!?!?!?!?!?

where would i go to culinary school for cake baking?

how long would i be in culinary school?

is that a good plan above?

Not a whole lot of time. You better start practicing and finding anything you can on the internet. In five or more years you’ll be old enough for your dad to sell you for a cow (Maybe two cows and a chicken if you’re really pretty) and then all the cakes you’ll be making will never leave the house.

masganteng | Feb 05, 2010

I had the same dream of baking cakes as you did when I was a child, and now I’m the head baker managing an entire staff at Hey Cupcake! bakery in Austin, TX. So, if you’re interested then here’s my advice…

1. Get a job in a bakery BEFORE you go to culinary school. Actually, you should be going to pastry school anyway, not culinary school. However, pastry school is very expensive (cost me about $40,000) so you should actually go work in a bakery first and see if that’s something you really want to commit to before you put all of that time, effort, and money into school. Don’t worry, you can easily get a job at a bakery without going to pastry school. In fact, whenever I hire people to add on to my staff, I don’t base my decision on education at all. I base my decision on attitude, experience, and willingness to learn.

2. Most culinary/pastry schools will not let you attend until you have turned 18. However, many high schools have cooking and nutrition classes you can take if you want to get a jump start on learning.

3. Culinary/pastry programs usually last anywhere from 9 months to 2 years, but you need to be prepared because it is a pretty grueling experience. While I was in school, I got up and went to work from 5am to 3pm, then went to pastry class from 5pm to 11pm six days a week for 9 months. It was fun, but it was also pretty tough and I was delirious most of the time. So, once you’ve worked in a bakery for a little while and decide that’s what you want your career to be, I would recommend you quit the job (let them know up from that it will be temporary) and continue to live with your parents while going to school so you don’t have so much to deal with.

4. There are many culinary/pastry schools all over the world so there’s bound to be one somewhat close to you. LeCordon Bleu may be a good place to start - check out their website and see if they have a campus near you. Also, many community colleges are now offering culinary/pastry programs.

5. As far as your plan goes, there’s only one thing I would change. If you’re going to open up a bakery, then it would be easier to do so before you get married and have a family. I’ve seen the company I work for grow from the ground up and it is extremely difficult to run a new business and keep your life balanced at the same time. I used to want to open my own bakery as well, but after working for one I would never want to have my own business - it is WAY too much work and stress for me to want to deal with. So, it would be better to get your business established and stabilized for a few years before you get into having a family.

6. If you want to start preparing now, then there are many classes and workshops you can take. Whole Foods and Central Market are always holding some kind of cooking/baking workshop. You could also check your local baking supply store to see if they host any kind of cake workshops as well. Remember, if you want to sell cakes then they’re going to have to be pretty as well as tasting good - so you’ll have to learn how to decorate cakes too.

Good luck with your plan and happy baking! : )

What did Miss Virginia mean by this?
In the first part of Miss America where you go through every state and say a statement about it, Miss Virginia says something about love and that the people in her state are truly living… I’m not sure what this means? I thought maybe gay marriage rights?

The only one I’ve read is ‘To kill a mockingbird’. It’s very slow at the start and a bit hard to get into, but it’s worth it. Once you get to the middle, the storyline picks up and it becomes really suspenseful and interesting.

Why do does the UK feel it has any say in our affairs?
i see in alot of british newspapers polls asking their readers about matters in the US. fact is they dont live here so they should **** off. i also see alot of articles about american issues, they lost their right to comment when they started expressing their hate of the US and calling us terrorist. if they dont like us then why do they have commentary on our issues. asking their readers about how obama is doing as a president. dont they have a leader of their own. i lost interest in our partnership in the uk when they started stabbing us in the back. since their empire went down the toilet and they need our special relationship to project their power. then why do they hate us. i say end the special relationship and let them sink.
most of the comments left are a americans are stupid this and that. we kill people this and that. the same u that built an empire of blood.i lost interest in their say when they became just another muslim contry/emirate.

screw the states and the UK both of y’all are a bunch of terrorists if you ask me and that goes for the Israeli government too!
Mr. Peter | Jan 29, 2010

Something that isn’t clear to many Americans who have never been outside the continental US is that many countries have more of a ‘world view’ while many US media outlets prove how isolationistic we still are as a nation. Hence the questions.
Shmoe | Jan 29, 2010

UK is in the same boat as us, we both are being destroyed by dictator like leadership. Many Americans are just brainwashed by TV media and care more about what happens with Late Night TV, than they do with how we are losing our rights and being scammed, ripped off, and lied to by our so called leaders.
Kaboose | Jan 29, 2010

I don’t know where you get your information but this isn’t true. As we are in Iraq because of you we have a right to an opinion. And we, as well as any country can express their opinion on America if we like. You can’t stop us.

Remember, we own you. You might not think it, but we’ve got you by the balls and we always will.
Eye | Jan 29, 2010

Actually, the UK is one of our strongest allies. Sure, some seem to be rather anti American, but when it comes down to it, they have our backs. Our matters concern them well…because American matters usually concern everyone, because of trade relations and government treaties. Something bad happens to the US, and the countries connected to us also suffer.

EYE
…please, don’t embarass yourself. Have us by the balls? We’re the f^ckin world’s watchdog. We have the biggest guns, the shinier toys, if we wanted to we could wipe you off the face of the earth in like 5 seconds.
Molly_Ragdoll | Jan 29, 2010

As a British girl, I can say (IMHO) that very few people care about US affairs (in the nicest way possible). Ignore the tabloids and stuff. Even we contradict them.
Ellie W | Jan 29, 2010

I really don’t see what your talking about. I’m from the UK and I’ve never heard of anyone calling Americans terrorists. If we didn’t like you why would we be interested in your president? I’d like to see the article you are talking about and really what is wrong with it. The newspaper just wants to find out what the public think about Obama.
The empire ended a long time ago and wee never had a union with America from the time of the empire ending up until a few decades ago. Great Britain is not a muslim country and it will never be.

We do not hate you, I don’t see how a newspaper article can make you think we hate you.
Team…Jasper (: | Jan 29, 2010

I’m British. Does that make me responsible for all the things that the MEDIA and the GOVERNMENT are doing? Yes, heavy emphasis on the last two words, I think you’ll find that, if anyone’s to shout at, it’s the papers and the government. I don’t believe all Americans are fat or terrorists, only a xenophobic idiot would still support that belief, the same goes for the ridiculous idea that all Muslims are terrorists, et cetera.

One thing you might want to know, however, Britain has a long-standing cultural tradition of mocking our politicians, our MPs, our Prime Ministers. Obviously, you wouldn’t do that in America unless you actually hate the congressmen, but over here, it’s commonplace to slander people in the seat of power. And because, as you say, we have a relationship with America, the media would naturally be inclined to lend an opinion on the American president.

But don’t get confused. I am a British civillian. I, along with a lot of other people over here, have no say in these issues, don’t use the fallacy of composition, basically, don’t go saying that because several constituents of Britain say something, Britain itself as a composite whole believes that.
Futile Crush | Jan 29, 2010

I think many of them still can’t get over we kicked them out over 200 years ago.

The primary push for the removal of our 2nd ammendment rights comes from the UN, mostly based in the UK.

It’s really an international double standard when it comes to America. The can’t really stand that we have our own way of thinking and tell them to fuck off when appropriate. Yet they always beg for our aid and money.
Fatefinger | Jan 29, 2010

And why does the US feel it has any say in the UK’s affairs?
squeaky guinea pig | Jan 29, 2010

I find some of these comments funny. UK isn’t the only country that has US news front and center anyone who believes non American/foreign media/news is fact you are sadly mistaken. I have been to other countries and can tell you their depiction of Americans and US in general is completely wrong and VERY negative. The same people own all the news corporations around the world and they feed every country what they want them to believe. No on really has "accurate" news coverage. I find even living in certain places the truth is always hidden, yet so many from the UK and europe in general like to think they are superior because they can read a paper with "accurate world news coverage". I also find it ironic that they insist the US keeps it’s nose out of other people business yet they themselves don’t show the same courtesy. I was in Europe about a year ago just on vacation and several Europeans heard my accent and felt the need to interupt my conversation with my friends and tell me "what they thought about America"(and we were not talking politics or about the USA just enjoying our trip). I didn’t go their for political debate and really it was a no win situation for me, but people are like that there. It happened frequently, oh and most ask incredibly dumb questions like "Is your mother your sister?" "How many guns do you have" very insulting and they call us loud, arrogant and obnoxious? From experience those from the UK are the worse. I find to just ignore it and let them go on in their own deluded mind that they are more wordly because the fact is for them being so "worldy" they are 100% clueless about the USA.

If I were an American, I would be very embarrassed by your diatribe.

Just think I should clean up a few of the myths bandied around by the American nationalist xenophobes in this question.

> The UK does not need America to stay afloat, we won’t ’sink’ if America stops trying to make us do what it wants.

> The UK is between 2 and 5% Muslim, hardly enough to become a ‘Muslim emirate’, but whatever helps you racists sleep at night.

> Nobody cared about the American revolution when it happened, even less care now. America just wasn’t very important back then (compared to India and Napoleon at least).

> The UK has never ‘begged for money’ from America. we have only ever taken out loans which have always been paid back.

> The UK media criticises about ALL nations equally, including our own. It comes with not being ultra nationalist patriots like North Korea.

> We don’t care about your second amendment rights, we have guns too, just not machine guns and sniper rifles. Do you seriously think that a load of weekend warriors would be able to stop the government if they came for you anyway?

> Outlets like FOX news genuinely do misinform Americans about the rest of the world. Arrogant claims to run the world and that the world depends on you for survival are proof of that. You come at us armed with nationalist bravado and lies told to you by the right wing and get offended when people point out you are wrong.

Perfect example: The healthcare debate which rubbished the NHS. All kinds of lies were spread about our healthcare system, despite the fact it is ranked 20 places above yours.

you need us far more than we need you you dimwit! you came in at the very last minute in the war in the past, but our boys and girls were there front and centre with you americans right from the start of this war. the only reason it seems to be tony blair getting stick for it all is because your mr bush jnr was too bloody cowardly to take the decision himself!! it is he who has hidden behind tony blair throughout all of this, not the other way round!! we would manage very well without you but you certainly would not manage without us! people in britain are interested in obama 1, cuz he seems to be his own man and not a puppet on a string, 2. cuz whatever shit the usa causes in the world, we are the most affected by and blamed for it, not vice versa!!!! plus, if you don’t like what you read in the british papers, THEN DON’T READ THEM! there is no hatred in this country for americans, except by extremists, who also hate the british people too but are happy to stay here and be supported by our government. we did not cause 9/11, so why don’t you re-direct your hatred towards those people and the ones killing and maiming yours and our boys and girls in the armed services instead of being so petty and pathetic?!?!

the last time i looked at the news it had a little something called ‘current WORLD affairs’
oh and by the way, i have been to america many times and i love it there, its a beautiful country with (mostly) beautiful people, i have also been to many other countries and i KNOW we all have our ‘bad apples’ but is that any reason to hate the whole nation?
i speak here for asian countries also, i have made many friends of a variety of cultures and religions, and i know that these people would help me out if i needed it, its a shame when people take what they see on the news and believe every word and judge a country as a whole on the actions of one (or many as the case may be where wars are terrorising the land) person/group.

this may be an opportunity to realise that most stories that make the news are not happy or positive, almost all of them are about death, destruction, disease, terror or unhappiness, this creates a negative mental attitude towards the subject matter in the news.

I think there are many countries asking the same thing of America! The millions of normal people who just want to get on with their lives without seeing their children and other members of their families hurt and killed for a start!

Yes, the UK is not perfect and did make mistakes in the past - pity that you, as an American did not learn from them and actually support a government who is going the same way.

I wish that our government would get out of America’s ar*ehole and forget about the place - along with the rest of Europe. If the middle East and the Asian countries did the same, who would America trade with? Your country would sink fast then! Due to globalisation all countries need each other. What they don’t need is one country dictating how they should act and think.

Review of Americanizing Shelley Online

Br In the vein of a Bend It like Beckham,a and a My Big Fat Greek Wedding,a a Americanizing Shelleya is a contemporary “Pygmaliona like comedy, set in L.A., featuring an American country boy and a Himalayan village belle, thrown together in this a Middle Americaa meets a Middle Easta charmer. Responding to a challenge thrown by the CEO of a Hollywood management company (Bridges), a Americanizing Shelleya tells the story of a wanna-be Hollywood player from the deep South, who sets out to Americanize an Indian girl straight from the Himalayas. Problems occur when our hero runs into cultural clashes while executing her American make over. Hes also working against a ticking clock which he thought was 8 weeks but is actually 6 weeks because thats when her family is coming to America for the wedding she told them is going to be taking place, otherwise she will be forced to go back home in disgrace. As he creatively teaches her all about the American way of life and what it takes be a Hollywood celebrity, he ends up learning a thing or two about his own life. Their clash in cultures soon gives way to understanding, unity and love as they begin to see the world through each others eyes.
